It’s quiet up here now.

For those of you who have wanted to enjoy some peaceful time at Tahoe then between now and Thanksgiving is made to order for you. Traffic is light and you can go to just about any place and be virtually alone while you relax, connect with nature, or whatever.

For the most part the weather is ideal. Mid to upper 50s during the day and upper 30s to low 40s at night.

Well…it’s November 1st so we thought we’d tell you a little about what to expect on this blog.

First and foremost…frequent posts to keep you informed on what’s happening up here at this beautiful lake in the sky. You will notice we actually began this several days ago.

Additionally, we want you to know a little about the history of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, so we’ll include some of that occasionally.

How about some interesting and fun day trips you can make? Spring wildflower reports? Best spots to see fall foliage? Neat places for a picnic? We’ll tell you about them all.

One more thing. We enjoy living up here at this wonderful mountain lake and we will do our best to pass some of that joy on to you, so don’t be surprised to see an occasional tall tale or some bit of zaniness designed to make you smile.

Most golfers who have visited Lake Tahoe are aware of the many extraordinary courses available here. The only problem is that when the snows of winter set in all those challenging fairways and greens are buried for months under several feet of that cold white stuff.

Ah, but all isn’t lost for the avid golfer because there exists a group of great courses just down the mountain in Carson City and the Carson Valley  that are open year round.

Great news! This couldn’t wait for November 1st.

Mt. Rose has announced they will be open for skiing this Halloween weekend. Wear your costume on Saturday and get $5 off your lift ticket.

Over on Interstate 80 at Donner Summit, Boreal Mountain Resort re-opens this weekend and will be in operation 7 days a week thereafter.

In addition, most of the South Shore casinos will be offering Halloween parties on Saturday night.
