Snowshoeing And Cross Country Skiing

December 15, 2009

For those of you who prefer snowshoeing through the woods or cross country skiing there are a couple of outstanding places not far from South Lake Tahoe.

The closest is Camp Richardson Resort. It’s located on Hwy 89 just a couple of miles from the intersection with US 50. They offer groomed trails and lots of forest. Rentals are available.

Heading the other direction, on Hwy 28, less than a mile from its intersection with US 50 at Spooner Junction, is Spooner Lake Cross Country Ski Area. They have beautifully groomed trails and offer equipment rentals.

Sleigh Rides

December 9, 2009

With plenty of snow on the ground you might consider treating the family to a real, authentic, horse drawn sleigh ride. Operated by the Borges Family, the rides are located in the field next to the MontBleu Resort Casino in Stateline. It doesn’t get any more convenient than that.

Grover Hot Springs

December 2, 2009

Now folks, this is a super neat place to visit. It is perfect for people who love the mountains. Just consider…sitting in a pool filled with 102-105 degree water from 5 natural hot springs. Add to that it’s all outdoors so while you soak you are surrounded by the beauty of 10,000 foot mountains and pine forests. Talk about an experience!

Grover Hot Springs, a part of the California State Park system, is open all year. In fact, if you’re sitting in that hot spring water during mid-winter and the snow begins falling the effect is something you’ll not soon forget.

It only takes about 30-45 minutes to drive there from South Lake Tahoe. For more information check their website link below.
