There are still a few spots of color around but mostly the trees are past their prime for this year.
A notable exception is the grove of Aspens located at Bourne Curve just west of our office at the Pine Cone Resort on US 50. They are currently at their peak but that could end soon due to a weather system that is forecast to arrive Saturday afternoon.
This will be the final update on fall colors for this year.
Over in Hope Valley on Hwy 88 the Aspens around Sorensen’s Resort are at their peak. It’s an incredible sight. Best we’ve seen in several years. On further west, all the way to the Red Lake turnoff, there are additional groves sporting fantastic variations of yellow, gold, orange, and red.
Up here at the lake the trees over around Taylor Creek and Spring Creek are looking fine.
Just a short distance from the Pine Cone Resort there is a spot on US 50 that the locals call Bourne Curve. On both sides of the road are groves of Aspens and at this time they are really beginning to explode in color.
You gotta see it to believe it.

We just got back from a preview look over at Taylor Creek Visitor Center. The creek is thick with beautiful salmon. Easy to see in the crystal clear water.
Come on up and have a look. It’s a sight like no other.

Just a short note here. As we predicted yesterday there are no colorful leaves yet in Hope Valley or elsewhere nearby.

Well folks, not much to report yet. Although there are small spots of color the trees around the Tahoe region are still mostly green. We’ll try and take a look in the next day or two over in nearby Hope Valley but it’s unlikely that much is happening yet.
The reports we’ve seen indicate most of the colors are far south of us at this time. Mostly in the Bishop area. If you’re going to be in that location during the next week or so you should check out Rock Creek, Bishop Creek, and Lake Sabrina.

Well, the summer season is over and it is autumn, that wonderful time of the year between the hot days of summer and the cold snows of winter. The temperatures are noticeably cooler now and the crowds are mostly gone.
Soon the yearly display of fall foliage will burst forth in its eyeball dazzling array of yellow, gold, and red leaves. We’ll be keeping an eye on the progress so we can report the best places for you to enjoy Mother Nature’s spectacular show.
We’ll sign off for now so we can begin driving around and compiling our reports. Yeah, it’s a tough job but somebody has to do it. 🙂
It’s quiet up here now.
For those of you who have wanted to enjoy some peaceful time at Tahoe then between now and Thanksgiving is made to order for you. Traffic is light and you can go to just about any place and be virtually alone while you relax, connect with nature, or whatever.
For the most part the weather is ideal. Mid to upper 50s during the day and upper 30s to low 40s at night.
So…what are you waiting for? Come on up.
