Labor Day Approaches

August 17, 2010

Well, folks, with the impending arrival of the Labor Day weekend the days of summer are nearing an end.  The lingering cold weather made it seem like a shorter than usual season.

If you haven’t already you might want to start thinking about coming up to the lake for a late summer visit.  Labor Day will be your last chance to see the fireworks until next spring.

Special Information About July 4th

June 28, 2010

Hi folks. I thought I’d pass along a few bits of information relating to the 4th of July celebration at Tahoe. Those of you who have been here on previous years may already know some of this but a refresher won’t hurt and if it’s your first time  then you’ll be glad to know these things in advance.

  • Runoff from the snowmelt is causing the rivers and creeks to run especially high and swift. Be extremely careful if you go near any of them.
  • Although we had a wet spring, the past couple of weeks have really seen a quick drying out of the forest. Fire danger is increasing daily so please be careful with all sources of ignition. Campfires and charcoal grills are not permitted on the Forest Service beaches nor in the forest.
  • Usage or even possession of any kind of fireworks, including sparklers, within the Tahoe Basin is illegal and enforcement is strict.
  • Alcohol is banned on many of the area beaches, especially Nevada Beach, Zephyr Cove, and Zephyr Shoals.
  • Many of the Day Use areas charge higher fees on holidays so be prepared for it.
  • Traffic will probably be incredibly heavy and parking scarce so you might consider riding the Nifty 50 Trolley, which stops at most of the beaches and the casino area.

Above all, have a fun and safe holiday weekend and come back soon.

Where To Watch The Fireworks

June 24, 2010

Hi folks. Each year when the 4th of July comes around the two questions most often asked are, “Where is the best place place to watch the fireworks?” and “What time do they start?”

The answer to both of the above questions are best provided on the TahoeSouth website. Click Here to be directed to their events page.
