Spring Time In Lake Tahoe!

April 11, 2011

Though Lake Tahoe is well known for its winter and summer highlights, spring provides a unique opportunity to experience a variety of activities. Depending on the annual snowfall, some ski resorts may stay open until late April, which makes for gorgeous spring skiing in 40 to high 50-degree weather. Some days will be warm enough for hiking, biking, or snowshoeing to see the majestic waterfall trails around the lake. On even warmer days, you can get in a round of golf, go fishing, or simply relax by the lake.

Last week, ski resorts around the lake announced their tentative closing dates. Among these, Heavenly and Kirkwood both projected April 24th as their last day for the 2010-11 ski season. (As of today, Sierra-At-Tahoe has not announced a closing date.) To wrap up their season, Heavenly is hosting a “Spring Loaded” series of events complete with ski and snowboarding competitions, parties, and pond skimming.  Click here for a complete schedule of events.

This transient period between winter and summer is the optimal time to admire the waterfalls at their best. The sun beaming over the snow-capped mountains provides various picturesque falls worth the hike. Some must-sees include Horsetail Falls, Eagle Falls, and Cascade falls. Each waterfall is easily accessible through forest trails that are short drive from South Lake Tahoe.

Golfing is also a popular spring activity in the area. The weather this time of year is perfect for being outside for an extended period of time before the summer heat rolls in. Carson Valley Golf Course, an affordable local favorite, is located just over Kingsbury Grade and two miles south of Gardnerville. This 18-hole course is known for is abundance of trees, and the cool rush of the Carson River.

Spending time in Lake Tahoe during the spring allows you to avoid the crowds and make the most of an exclusively ideal time. You can take advantage of the season-end or season-opening deals offered in the basin. You have the choice of having a crazy spring break getaway, or just relaxing and enjoying the serenity of the environment.

Forever Holiday

January 2, 2010

After celebration of the New Year, and Christmas the week before that, many think it’s all over for a year or at least until July 4th rolls around. This, however, is not so.

You’ve been up here enough to realize Lake Tahoe is not just another place. It’s special. It has scenic qualities that are not duplicated anywhere else in the world. Add to that the crystal clear water of the lake and the crisp, clean mountain air and one might think it just can’t get any better…but there’s more.

When you factor in year around recreation of every imaginable kind and stir in 24 hour gambling and entertainment the end result is one huge, non-stop celebration.

Winter has only just gotten started. It can only get better. Gather up the family and c’mon up here and enjoy the fun. There is always something exciting to do.

Thanksgiving At Tahoe

November 2, 2009

Lake Tahoe and Thanksgiving.

Have a big feast you’ve prepared in a home, condo, or townhome rented from Tahoe Vacation Rentals. Or, if you prefer, eat out at one of the many restaurants on the south shore.

Good food surrounded by the beauty of Mother Nature at her best. What more could you ask for?

How about skiing? Most ski resorts try to open by Thanksgiving weekend. It hasn’t always happened but with the advent of snowmaking the probability is good. Even better than good.

Check the Tahoe Vacation Rentals website now and give us a call…or book online.
